Purpose:
The University of Houston-Downtown offers wireless access campus wide that is fast and secure for students, faculty, and staff. Any wireless device that supports wireless standards such as 802.11b, g, n, ac will be able to connect to UHD's secure wireless network. UHD is also a proud participant institution of eduroam.
How to:
Available Networks
- UHDWIFI: 5.0 GHz network (for modern devices)
- UHDLEGACY: 2.4 GHz network (for older devices)
- eduroam: for research and education community (more info can be found on our eduroam page)
Connecting a Laptop
Windows OS:
- Select the wireless icon located in the system tray (bottom right corner), then select UHDWIFI.

- Select Connect.

- Enter your UHD username (ex. gatore1 or gatore) and password, then select OK.

- Select Connect to accept and store the certificate.

Mac OS:
- Select the wireless icon located in the menu bar (top right corner), then select UHDWIFI.

- Enter your UHD username (ex. gatore1 or gatore) and password, then select OK.

- Select Continue to accept and store the certificate.

ChromeOS:
- Select the wireless icon located in the system tray (bottom right corner), then select UHDWIFI.
- Enter the following settings:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
- CA Certificate: Do not check or Don’t validate
- Domain: uhd.edu
- Identity: Enter UHD username (ex. gatore1 or gatore)
- Password: Enter password
- Select Connect.
Connecting a Mobile Device
Android
(Please be aware that Android devices may differ in specific system form layouts, so your device may not match our instructions or images exactly.)
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon.
- Select UHDWIFI.
- Enter the following settings:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
- CA Certificate: Do not check or Don’t validate
- Domain (if asked): uhd.edu
- Identity: Enter UHD username (ex. gatore1 or gatore)
- Password: Enter password

- Select Connect.
iOS
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon.
- Select UHDWIFI.
- Enter your UHD username (ex. gatore1 or gatore) and password, then select the check mark icon.

- Select Trust to accept and store the certificate.

Additional Information:
Alumni Access - UHD Alumni may request a computer account for use on the wireless network. To request an account, please contact the Academic Computing Lab (Room S800, One Main Building). Alumni are required to abide by the Regulations for Using Academic Computing Facilities and Resources at University of Houston-Downtown.
Guest Access - Guest accounts for the UHD network are provided as a courtesy for official visitors of the University. To obtain a Guest Account, ask your campus sponsor to complete the Guest Network Account Request Form and submit this form to the Information Technology Office located in A700, Academic Building.

Q: Do I need anything besides a wireless device?
A: Yes. A valid UHD network ID and password are required to connect.
Q: I forgot my password. What should I do?
A: You can retrieve a new one using our Self Service Reset tool. Further instructions can be found on UHD Password Reset.
