Purpose:
LISTSERV is a mailing list software that allows for the distribution of messages among a group and can send to hundreds of email addresses.
LISTSERVs cannot be created by the user. and must be requested from UHD IT.
How to Fix:
To initiate a LISTSERV request, users will need to submit the following form, which will generate into a TDX support ticket: https://uhdforms.formstack.com/forms/email_list
The request is triaged within TDX to TS-Systems.
Once the LISTSERV is setup, the user will be notified by TS, and provided the LISTSERV List name (for example: UHD-USS_TEST-L@LISTSERV.UHD.EDU)
Accessing the LISTSERV
1. To access the LISTSERV, users will need to navigate to https://listserv.uhd.edu/
2. If this is their first time accessing this page, they will need to select Log In on the top-right of the page and then select Register Password.



3. The user will input their UHD email, and setup a password for this page. (Please note: Their UHD credentials are not linked to this service, the password setup will only affect https://listserv.uhd.edu/)
4. Once the user has setup a password, they will receive an email notification (such as a link), that will need to be verified. The user will select the link to complete the verification step.
5. Once they are verified, the user can return to https://listserv.uhd.edu/ and sign in with their UHD email and LISTSERV password.
6. Once signed in, the user can then navigate to the List Dashboard to review their current LISTSERV(s)

Adding Subscribers to the LISTSERV
To add subscribers, users have two options:
- Add users individually via email input
- Add users in bulk via Bulk Operations
To Add subscribers individually:
1. While still signed into https://listserv.uhd.edu/, the user can navigate to the Subscriber Reports tab

2. The desired recipient email can be input into the Add Subscriber box, and Add Subscriber can be selected to complete the action.
3. The desired email will now be added to the LISTSERV list.
To Add subscribers in bulk via Bulk Operations:
1. In order to add multiple subscribers in one action, the user will need to setup a list within Excel
2. The user will need to open a blank Excel workbook and input all emails within Column A

3. First Name and Last Name (Column B and C respectively are OPTIONAL). However, if the user decides they would like to include the names, both Column B and C are needed.
4. Please note: the Excel workbook cannot have headers (such as "Email", "Name")
5. Once the Excel sheet is completed, the user will need to save the file as the following format: Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)

6. Once saved, the user can navigate back to https://listserv.uhd.edu/ and navigate to the Subscriber Reports tab.
7. On the Subscriber Reports tab, the user can select Bulk Operations, which will open a file input window.

8. The user will then choose the .txt file that was just created and import the file.

9. This will add all the listed emails as subscribers to the LISTSERV. To verify, the user can refresh Subscriber Reports and see a current list of subscribers.
How to Send to the LISTSERV
1. In order to send to the LISTSERV, users will need to open Outlook.
2. Once the user has prepared their email (newsletter, journal, etc.) they will need to add the LIST name in the TO section of their email.
