How to Reactivate Duo Mobile on a New Phone with the Same Number

Purpose:

Steps to reactivate the Duo Mobile app if you received a new phone and kept the same number.

How to Fix:

Method 1: Through AccessUHD

  1. Log into AccessUHD.
  2. At the Duo prompt, select Other optionsUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Manage devicesUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Text message passcode > Send a passcodeUploaded Image (Thumbnail) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Enter the passcode that was sent to your phone and select VerifyUploaded Image (Thumbnail) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select I have a new phoneUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Get startedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Send me a passcode > VerifyUploaded Image (Thumbnail) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Next. (If Duo Mobile is not already installed, download it from the App Store or Google Play before continuing.) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Reactivate the Duo Mobile app by scanning the QR code displayed or selecting Get an activation link insteadUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Method 2: Through the Duo Device Management Portal

  1. Log into the Duo Device Management Portal.
  2. Select Enter a Passcode > Text me new codesUploaded Image (Thumbnail) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Enter the passcode that was sent to your phone and select Log InUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Device Options > Reactivate Duo MobileUploaded Image (Thumbnail) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select Text me > Verify > ContinueUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Select the type of phone > Continue. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Install the Duo Mobile app if it is not already on your device, then select I have Duo Mobile installedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Q&A:

Q: What if I no longer have access to my old phone?

A: You can still reactivate Duo using text message passcodes. Since your phone number stayed the same, the passcodes will be delivered to your new device, so your old phone is no longer needed.

Q: I’m not receiving the text message passcode on my new phone. What should I do?

A: Make sure your phone has cellular service and can receive SMS messages. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off or restart your phone to refresh network connections. If the issue persists, please contact the IT Service Desk directly at 713-221-8031 for further assistance.
