Network Share Browser Troubleshooting

Purpose:

This document guides you in troubleshooting issues you may encounter when accessing the UHD Network Shares from an Internet browser.

How to Fix:

Microsoft Edge

Errors: Unable to find parent for the given folder

   Failed to load folder

Recommendation: Add trusted sites and change the data across domains security setting

  1. Click on the cog and Internet Options
  2. Click the Security Tab
  3. Select the Trusted Sites zone then click Sites
  4. In the Add this website box type https://uhd.sharefile.com and click Add
  5. In the Add this website box type https://shares.uhd.edu and click Add
  6. Click Close
  7. Click Custom Level
  8. Scroll about halfway down to the Miscellaneous section
  9. Enable Access Data sources across domains
  10. Click OK
  11. Close your browser, re-open it, and try again.

 

Firefox

Errors: Unable to find parent for the given folder

    Failed to load folder

Recommendation: We recommend updating your browser.

 

Chrome

Errors: Unable to find parent for the given folder

    Failed to load folder

Recommendation: We recommend you turn off blocking of third-party cookies.

  1. Open Chrome Settings (upper right 3 vertical dots)
  2. Expand Advanced settings at the bottom of the screen
  3. In the Privacy and Security section, Select Content Settings
  4. Select Cookies
  5. Find Block third-party cookies and turn it off

 

Safari

Necessary Setting: Show your Developer menu (One time only)

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click Safari>Preferences
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Check Show Developer Menu in menu bar

Each Time you open Safari AND BEFORE you launch uhd.sharefile.com 

  1. Click Develop>Disable Cross-Origin Restrictions
